Go with the Wii. Unless you want to play on a garbage system.

Wii - I have spoken to several people who own the wii (even one avid Nintendo fanboy) and most agree that the wii system gets old rather quickly. Most of the good games for it have already been released and nothing special seems to be in the pipeline.

360 - has come down in price and no longer suffers from the red ring of death problem anymore. Wide catalogue of games and critically acclaimed online system also make it a good purchase. Suit all ages really, from Viva Pinata to Gears of War.

PS3 -  is a decent option too. Still a little bit more expensive than the 360, but certainly has plenty of features. Free online service is a nice feature, as is the ability to play Blue-Ray movies (if you have a HD TV). Sadly newer models ditched the backwards compatibility with PS2 games.

Pretty much anything but the wii seems like a decent purchase. I prefer the PC platform more, and for the $7oo+ you will be spending on the console (don't forget extra controllers cost $$$ and games cost a lot too) you could buy or build a nice, powerful computer.

tl;dr : Novelty of wii wears of fast, 360 and PS3 are both good. PC is still cheaper, more powerful and more customizable.
I love you, that is just perfect.

I'm rather interested in what Nintendo are going to do with the Wii. They are bringing out WiiSpeak, a voice chat system with the realease of Animal Crossing : City Folk (:D:D:D:D:D:D) and I hope they bring out some sort of instand buddy chat for it, considering WiiSpeak comes with a USB keyboard. WiiMusic is a bit of a let down from what I was hearing, was hoping for more of a Guitar Hero system D: (I don't even know if it is or not, haven't played it)
To those people who are saying the Wii is for younger people, there is a range of M+ games, but not as many as the 360 or PS3.

Wii is for people who want to have gold old fun, and don't want to sit on the couch all the time when playing.
PS3 and 360 are for the people who want more hardcore gameplay, although I greatly approve of the PS3 more then the 360.

If you can, get a goddamn PS3. Another thing you can get if you have a big basement is a BenQ™ 1080P Projector screen for $500 right there. Easier than buying a plasma, that's for sure.

If you can't get that, I'd go for 360. But Microsoft still screws people over, as far as I know.

Please elaborate.

Please do. I've only had 1 problem with my Xbox 360, and the problem was fixed with ease. (Send it in, for free, and got another one, for free, no difficulties.)

Even when you need help with Windows, or something. Hell you don't even need to call. All the solutions are right loving there.

Not at all.

Also don't get PS3.
Oi. Stfu. PS3 is as strong an argument as any other.
