Author Topic: Vehicle mount points(blender)Armatures give error report.  (Read 2375 times)

Ok, i searched the forum and searched all around these places and i'm getting close, right now i'm having problems with the mount points. I found out that you name the armature and then parent to shape but when i parent to shape and export this is what i get:

and i'm not too sure why. Here's a pic of what i have:


The mesh is the child of detail32, which is the child of shape.The collision box is the child of col0 which is also the child of shape. And then the armatures which you can't see very well are named mount0 and mount1 and are the child of shape.

But it won't let me make them the child. Right now what happens is i jump on the vehicle and it lets me sit in the spot that i alligned the mesh with, which is the center. When i switch to the 2nd seat it moves to thesame spot. So the game knows that the mounts are there just that it won't let me choose the spots i want, and i can't have more than once center obviously. The place where the guy sits is where the green and red line cross, thats where i want it but also another guy behind him.

And here is the whole snow mobile, i added the stuff for invisible wheels, just that the armatures for hub0-3 aren't there, so don't expect it to move.

If somebody helps me with this, i will figure out how to make everything else, and i will credit you on the next vehicle i make :D Since this is for the winter pack and the only credit i can give is in the description file, but i'll put it in there aswell.

I know i've posted alot for help but this should be my last one if i get this figured out.

Are you using DTS quick export or DTS export?

does it really matter? i tried both and both gave me an error.

lol that would be nice of you but also if you could tell me what you did.. :P cause i dont just want to make this work and thats it, i wanna know what i'm doing wrong so i can make more bymyself.

Well you have named the armatures all wrong, you have to name them in edit mode, not object.

uh i tried that, i deleted them then created them seperately. Went into edit mode named one mount0 and parented to shape. Then i went object mode selected other one and edit mode again, named that one mount1 and parented to shape. Still gave me an error, well warning that it couldn't accept the child mount0 and mount1.

Don't parent the mount points.

A few more tips
1. Your mount points aren't centered. Not what's causing the problem, but you might want to fix it.
2. That concave part of the collision at the front is going to forget up your collision. Use 2 different boxes, and parent them both to the collision empty.

I got the same problem when I tried exporting it. Though its this never happened to me before : /

Select the mount point, press alt+c, and click clear parent.

ok well i did what you said, i fixed the collision and the mountpoints un parented. No it didn't give me an error obviously but ingame i still sit in 1 spot, if i switch to seat 2 i sit in thesame spot, and i added the wheels named hub0-3 which still didn't work. Might be a script error now.

A:It might have to do with not adding a mountpoint to mount them or... Not sure what else could cause a problem like this.

A:Click B and select the wheels. Then click S to resize them.

A:Maybe you misspelled something or got the wrong name for it. I don't know is super3boy has any tutorials on naming points, if that is your problem but I don't think so knowing you had a couple named points on your add-on. Theres another answer for this that I just forgot lol.

i know how to animate, but thats not the way i'm adding the wheels. I make a mountpoint named hub0 and hub2 3 4 for the rest, and then in the script mount them. But i don't want wheels in this so i use empty.dts

You have to make the mounts a child to detail32, not shape.
