Nirvanna was wrecked, grunge slowly choked itself into obscurity, post punk was thriving up until the very late 90's. Metal slowly rose to take the place of Hair metal, and branched out into different sounds.  Indie bands really took off in the 90's.

Strange time for music but worth it. Even if Pop tried to turn us all gay.
