Author Topic: Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions  (Read 697 times)

A remake of the original on the PS1, now for PSP.

Probably one of the best games I've played in awhile. The cut-scenes are amazing, and are made using cel-shading, a type of "toon" technique, also used in Zelda: The Wind Waker. I won't spoil any of the story for anyone who hasn't played it, and because I'm only a small part-way through the game, so it's not exactly clear what's happening yet. It includes all of the jobs other FF games have, such as Geomancer and Black Mage, and a system of learning spell and abilities through Job Points, obtained by participating in battle. Your party can be massive, but you can often only place 4-5 units in a battle at once. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time, but I'm told that's because I haven't played Final Fantasy VII. :P

Here's where the review stops and the discussion begins.

Discuss favorite classes, spells, etc.

I also seem to be spontaneously generating Chocobos. Do they lay eggs in my party or something? D:

EDIT: My current usual team:
Mystic/Black Mage hybrid
White Mage/Time Mage hybird
Samurai/Geomancer hybrid
Chemist/Dragoon hybrid
Archer/Geomancer hybrid

So it looks sorta like Wind waker, with toonishness?

Somewhat, the cut-scenes are done in the same technique the entire Wind Waker game was done in, but that doesn't necessarily mean they look exactly alike.

Here's an example.

It's not easy to see when it's only a picture, but it has a cross-hatched look to it.

greatest game ever!!!!!
this is what made the PlayStation great
