Author Topic: Where the heck is the rest of the TF2 pack?  (Read 1426 times)

I was browsing some older threads, and I kept seeing stuff like "The TF2 pack is coming soon" and "Racer's working on some new weapons" and such.

I know that we have those 4 weapons in the preset on RTB, but whatever happened to the rest of the pack?

Racer is working on it and/or keeping it to himself

Translation: Probably doesn't know anything about it :D

That too!

I think he is working on some weapon upgrade system or something?

He has a big bunch of stuff made but is keeping it to himself from what I've heard from him.

He scrapped the entire thing because Badspot turned off shapenaming.

Stop mother loving reminding me :<

Disguise kit:
- You keep your own name
- For everybody in a minigame running the TF2 game mode, names are hidden from far away
- Disguising changes the colour of your name and your uniform/appearance to that of the other team(s)
- Your weapons 'disguise' and match that of the other team when you use them, but cannot be fired

Being close enough "to touch" the spy will reveal their name and therefore identity as a spy. (as you can't walk through other people)
Shooting the spy will have knockback and therefore reveal them.

Keeps the theme of the TF2 disguise kit while working around Blockland's limitations.

There ya go. If Racer puts this to his pack, then hopefully he'll release it.

Extactly like in TF Classic, where if a scout touched a spy it'd reveal them.

To be more balanced against spy checkers, I would definitely limit the "touch reveal" to scouts, like in TFC.  Also, if this wasn't freakin' v11, we would be able to switch to a different name when you disguise.

The mechanic seems to work pretty well for all people in TF2 - it's believable at a distance or when you're close but busy fighting something else, facing the wrong way or inobservant. Plus, it'd be impossible to do without clientside mods and sounds hacky to only transmit to certain people.

I didn't specifically mean that touching the spy would reveal their identity instantly - being so close to the spy with my variant makes it possible to determine that they are, as in the game you cannot walk through enemy spies.

He said that he is keeping the mod for himself. Kinda a let down, but we wont see hundreads of servers with "TF2 server, join to get admin" or "TF2!!!11!!" or "Bob's TF2 server!!! zach is unabanned!".

Racer just released an update for the medigun.  I think he's back at it!

Maybe it's just because a ton of people noticed a problem, Emailed him about it, and annoyed him so much he finally did it. I dunno. =/
