According to valve they are working on the problem, but I think they arent. They are probably working on newer things. The solution to get past the freezeing part is to use a cheat.

I thought they already fixed it.

You know, reading through this thread, it would be awesome if Gordon was still a vital part of the story, but you were playing as someone else.
