I don't really understand the series for HL2. Why is there a Half-Life 2, and then a Half-Life 2 Episode one and two? I really don't get it. Shouldn't it be HL2 Ep 1, 2, and 3?

Half-life 2 is a game and episode 1 with episode 2 is a game. its a whole story.

Episodes 1 and 2 are expansions, they continue the story to segway into Half-Life 3, and showcase new features.
