Well, I wanted a client-side mod wrench keybind that lets you... well, you know, instantly spawn a ghost wrench- like the D-wand.

Abusable, people could edit the code and make it so they can use it in mini games.

Not if it was client side like he said.  A client side "use wrench" keybind would just have to use the inventory slot that your wrench is in. 

A server-side /usewrench command could have this problem if it did not check the current minigame settings. 

There seems to be a /usehammer and /useprinter command that already function like this, but no /usewrench.

Perhaps if minigame is building enabled or Use Wand is renamed to Use Tools then you can use the commands?

Or add an extra Enable Wrench in the next update.

Just base it off of if building is on.  You can't use a wrench anyway if it is off.

What if you wanted to let people build, but not use wrench?

[ ] Enable Tools

Tools = /wand, /usewrench, /usehammer, /useprinter
If you pick up the items in the game then you can use them. (to prevent confusion over "my hammer doesn't work")
