It is intended as neither as well. It's a social theory, a theoretical world view to explore behaviors and interaction through a particular lens. It is not possible to either prove or disprove one, although they can be used to formulate hypothesis which can be tested. For examples, read about symbolic interaction, functionalism and conflict theory. Whitaker's theory explores interaction as acts of insubordination, inhumanity, and ignorance. It sounds somewhat similar to conflict theory.

I don't see that it has any use unless it makes predictions.

I also think that "inhumanity" isn't very specific and that greed is also a driving factor.

Well when you get to high school make sure to take a sociology course. You'll enjoy it and probably learn a few things. You can ask a trained professional what the use is, they can probably explain it better than I could. I don't have my notes anymore, no place to keep them.

Edit: at the end of the day, I think it's so important that people think about this stuff.
In my French class I get bored so I tend to start thinking about things in the world and usually write them down in the margin of journal.
They're usually posed as a conversation between me and myself.

Lines alternate between two people(me and myself)
Quote
Qui suis-je?(Who Am I?)
Who are you?
I am me, and everyone is me as there is one unique me for every person.
If everyone is you, who can object that they are just your imagination?
I can't, if this is all a dream, then might as well make the most of it.
Could everyone be a different side of you?
If god is man, and man is of different qualities that we all possess, then does that mean that all men combined equate to god?
Are you proposing that each of us is a part of god?
Who knows?

Quote
People, who are they?
They make the world.
What about animals?
Without people, the world is just competition.
And what is competition?
Dominance.
And dominance?
Evolution.
So is competition bad?
Depends on what d/evolves.
So people, what are they?
A breakthrough.
A break through what?
I'm not sure.
Perhaps a revolution?
A revolution of glory, thought, reason, morality, happiness, and feeling.
What if this was a dream?
That's irrelevant.

Quote
If I believe I'm crazy, does that make me crazy? Because most crazy people don't think they're crazy. But could this mean I'm the only self-aware crazy person?

Quote
Scientists tell us that feelings are just chemical reactions.
And what do you think about it?
Well everything in reality is just atoms.
It's like when people learned what the moon really was.
Whenever we learn the truth, does that mean we abandon mystery?
Though what tells us we can't be happy to know what things are?
Sometimes believing in false things is better than reality.
Religion?
Perhaps it could be true, or it could just be a way to think positively about death.
But it's all like a dream.
When is it time to stop?

Seems like a reasonable goal.

Quote from: More Wikipedia
Social research informs economists, politicians, educators, planners, lawmakers, administrators, developers, business magnates, managers, non-governmental organizations and non-profit organizations, social workers, the formulation of public policy, and people interested in resolving social issues in general.

I don't see how economists, politicians, educators, planners, lawmakers, administrators, developers, business magnates, managers, non-governmental organizations and non-profit organizations, social workers, the formation of public policy or people interested in resolving social issues in general will benefit from theories that don't make any predictions. I didn't say Sociology was a useless science, I said that this was a useless theory.

I'm sorry.

My high school doesn't have a course of sociology, last time I checked :(.

Since if I recall correctly you've been in college(or I assume so since you're older), I will ask, is philosophy an interesting course? Because I've heard from some that it's just like a blowoff class, just something to get a credit, but I was actually interested in it, so I'm worried that I might as well not take it due to it not being that interesting or whatever :(.

I never took philosophy, but really, the quality of the course depends on the school and who is teaching it. If you're interested in taking it then you should consider it, but do some investigating first. Ask other people who took the class what they thought of it. I'm not familiar with your school policy, but you may be able to try it for a few weeks, and if you don't like it, withdraw from the course in time and not get a grade penalty and possible get a full or partial refund.

Come on, Can no one comprehend this?
I can't. I can't seem to grasp what your getting at.
