I am sure all of you have heard at least a bit about Dark Age of Camelot(DAOC). It is considered by almost everyone who has played it to be the best MMO ever created, I haven't met anyone yet who has played WoW after DAOC and called WoW better. I finally got bored of WoW for a while and decided to try it. I will share with you my opinions on it.
Pros:RvR is just fun as hell. RvR is a 3 way PVP battle where your objective is to just level off monsters in the middle of the battlefield, defense your castle, or attack the castle. All three realms start off on different sides of the battlegrounds, which go by every 5 levels a new battleground. If you decide to take the castle you have to set up catapults and destroy a castle wall, then build a ram and tear down the door, then kill the king of the castle, all while fighting off the other 2 realms. Doing so will reward you with almost a full level in experience.
The realm points system is great too. The game has levels 1-50 and 10 master levels, but after those it will take you months to get maximum Realm Rank, which is kind of like a your PVP level which unlocks points to spend into things such as improved stats or helpful PVP skills.
The game also has raids, instances, and free world to explore, although the emphasis is on the RvR PVP and you can easily gain all your levels in the RvR battlegrounds.
Tons of classes, 14 different classes per 3 realms.
Cons:The worst thing for me was you CANNOT cast spells in combat, unless you use fast casting as a nuker. I am a healer and that means I cannot cast any of my heals when something is attacking me and I have no melee attacks. Eventually you get instant cast spells, I have an instant stun and instant sleep which helps me get away and I stick in groups.
All the battlegrounds are empty basically besides the 20-24 one, 35-39 one, and the 50 ones. Not that big of a problem as the levels can go quick in the gaps between and you can run instances.
Over-all: It has it's annoyances and is an old game but it is the king of fun and fast-paced castle sieging PVP goodness.
tl;drDAOC is the king of MMOs for it's unique and endless fun in PVP castle sieging.
DAOC recently merged all the normal servers, which means about 1k people per realm, so the game is far from dead now.
