I'm looking to ask for an acoustic guitar for Christmas, but I'm not sure which kind to ask for.

If anyone has any ideas, that'd be great.

My price range is from $200-$400, and I'm hoping to get a decent quality guitar. I've heard that Guild and Martin make good guitars, but I'm not sure how they feel/sound.

I'd tell you what to kind to get if my guitar wasn't 18 years old.

If you are just learning, go find one that fits you right.

I have a Starcaster.

No, I'm not just learning. I'm looking for a new acoustic guitar, my other 2 are kind of shabby.

Dude, lol don't buy that. Buy L4D2 or Borderlands.

Silly you haha.

I already pre-ordered L4D. ._.

I was making fun of all the people who suggest other things than what you're optioning :C

olol, okay. sorry about that.

Depends what sort of music do you like? I suggest you avoid any classic guitars unless you are looking to play twangy nylon strings, not only that but the tuning pegs cannot handle too much tension either.
If you are looking for an acoustic guitar to learn on Yamaha has some good deals in the price range you want, but the best way to find your guitar is to go to an instrument store and ask one of them to help you out. I highly recommend you visit a retailer to find the axe just for you.

Martin does an excellent job on acoustics. My older brother has three of them, one of them has marble fretts and incredible lining on the wood. And overall, the way they sound, makes a ton difference compared to my younger brother's wal-mart guitar.

I have a nice acoustic I will mail in return for 150$

Well my old small "ukalele" acoustic guitar has no name printed on it but its nylon strings and my dad is an authentic Spanish flamenco guitar.

...
So...yeah.

Taylor is nice. Martin is better.
