Author Topic: Good Video Card for gaming?  (Read 739 times)

Christmas is ocming up, and I want to add a good video card on my list. However, I don't know what I should get. I'd like to keep the cost low, thank you. At least under $200.

We can't pick something for you without knowing what slot types your motherboard has, your processor, and your power supply's wattage.

Under $200?  Awesome.
And we need to know your PSU wattage and slots, as Inv3rted said.
If you have a pretty good PSU, and your motherboard supports PCI Express 2.0, consider these two:

Do you want ATI or Nvidia?

So what exactly should I do? Post my .nfo system information file?

Being a computer dumbass, I have no clue how I would find my PSU wattage n' stuff. Halp.
EDIT: I saw those video cards. No cons. *insert gay voice here* Faaaabulous!

I guess Nvidia. I heard they're both good.

Edit: Bump cause I'm an starfish.

Open your case (while it's off, lol), check the sticker on the side of the box that has a power cord connecting to it on the outside. Should be on the top or bottom. Look for "Maximum Wattage" or something like that, and while you're at it, look for something that looks like +12V and write the number of Amps, it'll look like this for example:

+12V
-------
  23A

If you have multiple 12v rails, it'll probably be something like this.

+12V1     +12V2     +12V3

  24A        23A        25A

But I have a question. Hao2Open? I have a Sony VAIO laptop.

You can't put a video card in an ordinary laptop.

A laptop?!

You can't upgrade laptops really. Only the memory and battery are things you can upgrade, or if its a flexible laptop that lets that maybe the CPU.

So no, a video 'card' isn't in the market for you. Or a chip.

Ah well. Locking the topic then. I will always have to play L4D2 at low settings. :(
