Personally, I thought the game was pretty good, but you have to make your own fun, as stupid as that sounds.
Yeah, this is what I do. It kind of came naturally to me though since I tend to do this in many games (especially HL2 on Synergy; it's still fun every time I play it, repetitive as it is). I like to snipe somewhat close to the camps and throw molotovs near me to keep them from flanking.
And if it's a base containing explosives, I just shoot those so it takes out most of the base and starts a massive fire.
Oh and Zackin, I know what you mean with how linear the terrain is. I find it quite funny how mountainous they made Africa.
