Author Topic: Mouse-over name.  (Read 1058 times)

When your a sniper and want to get payback on someone but you can't see their name due to zoom, how do you see who it is? Just kill him perhaps. When you want a rough estimate of how "noobish" you are, I usually look at names, but when I'm sniping I don't want to open the Player List for risk of death and anyways, how do I know it's them? Well, my suggestion is that when you have your crosshair over someone, it lists their name, a lot like Half-Life 2: DM.

You mean a lot like every FPS.

Or you read the name that's over their head...

Anyways, I second this idea. It would be generally useful. Also, in games that don't have uniforms where you can kill anyone, it would be nice to be able to check to make sure that's not your buddy you're sniping.

From most FPS, I haven't seen that but w/e. =3

How can you not see it due to zoom? It's the same size all the time.

If you see a person in the far distance, often their name will not appear. This happens especially if you have a close draw distance.

Usually if you can't see their name, you can't see them. Besides, just shoot everyone you see. You have a grudge on a certain person, if you hit that person, good for you.

Or like in a vehicle. If the server happens to use the same colored vehicle in a TDM, you can check who is riding by mousing over them. Or if names are turned off, you can see who it is. =3

This is only possible through two ways.

-Engine edits, possibly simple ones.
OR
-Very hacky and possibly laggy raycast loops.

This would fit well with Blockland.

I agree that this would be very hard to make. More trouble than it's worth, anyways.

Someone promote this genius. I love the idea and if I had any idea of how to script, I would make this right now.
