Maxis and Samantha were actually teleported themselves as well. They got trapped inside and transformed into Demons.

But another part of the story says that Samantha died somehow and that maxis lost his hand and hung himself since he couldnt live the way he was.

The Hellhounds and "Demons" live in the same area in between "worlds" Hellhounds and Demons attack each other there. Samantha's teddy bears communicate that message. By placing them where Zombies are really likely to attack, they're telling you, Zombies, Hellhounds, and Demons are not alike.

I hardly understood any of that.

Also there was talk of a new item from the random box of a "dog whistle". You would use it to call in dogs to help fight off the zombies. I hope this idea doesn't get cut.
