Author Topic: Am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of 3D for console games?  (Read 1645 times)

from what i've heard, instead of stuff coming OUT of the screen, it will appear that stuff just goes farther in.

i'm cool with this. as long as it's not appearing to come out of the screen i'm fine, because that annoys the hell out of me.

Played Origin 3D monitors at E3 for Just Cause 2, Mafia II, and some need for speed thing. It looked pretty good but until such things come standard, I am not going out of my way to buy them

3D is the dumbest gimmick for movies, EVER.
I liked the 3d in avatar actually

whoops double post, sorry i'm tired

The idea is to give depth perception. The problem with 3D is that when it was first made, companies for some reason thought it was a loving GREAT idea for characters to turn to the camera and demonstrate it to the audience. Sure it was cool the first time, but got really loving old really fast.

Anyways the main reason that I'm psyched about this is that Gmod will be 1000x easier with the ability of depth perception. Instead of gauging size of objects based on memory and flying around them, you'll simply be able to tell from just 1 angle.

Ever heard of a movie called "Avatar"?
Best.
Movie.
EVER.

You beat me to it. But still...

Ever heard of a movie called "Avatar"?

Not even close. It is ground breaking in being the first movie in 3-d not to suck, but it is far from the best.

It was visually pleasing, but nothing special in terms of what makes a movie good.

I'm pretty sure modern 3D doesn't hurt your eyes and head as much as the red/cyan 3D.

Go ahead and say that after playing the 3DS. It took me over 2 hours to get over that thing. Maybe I had the settings too high, I dunno.

Probably has to do with the way it functions, or the distance of the screen to your face. I'm absolutely confident that polarized system is harmless.

True but it still gave me a headache. :P

Well you can't exactly play a game if you avoid looking at the unfocused parts...
