Portal 2 is a sequel to the orange box hit Portal, and is set to be released in early 2011. The game is supposed to be released on PC and Mac via Steam, Xbox 360, and PS3. PC, Mac, and PS3 will include Steam Cloud, which allows players to save a game on one platform and continue from that same save from another.
Story: (Warning, possible spoilers ahead)
The game is set 100 years after the original game, in a partly destroyed Aperture Science. There Chell meets Wheatley. Wheatley is a personality core, much like the ones from the end of the first game, that helps guide Chell through the facility in an attempt to escape. During that attempted escape, Wheatley accidentally wakes GLaDOS in her chamber. GLaDOS returns to herself and tries to resumes testing (after replacing a lot of the old concrete tiles with new plastic(?) ones.), although bitter about Chell "murdering" her.
Confirmed Features:- Steam Cloud support across 3 platforms (PS3, PC, and Mac)
- Updated branch of Source Engine (Updated Alien Swarm engine, it looks)
- Larger focus on "Dynamic" lighting. (Really just projected textures.)
- More animation in maps than Portal 1.
- Different Gels based upon TAG: The Power of Paint
- Many new test chamber elements such as lasers (Thermal discouragement beam).
