Religion was created to not only explain what was thought to be unexplainable, it was created to give power to those who had no royal blood.

Therefore, screw it.

Religion is a set of beliefs that is commonly shared between a group of people, typically centered around the origin and or purpose of the universe and it's components. Religion and the rituals that are based within most, have been around for several thousand years, possibly even before the idea of government or civilization existed.

Granted, though, some people do use religion in order to raise to power, but few, if any, have ever been created for the sole purpose of getting power. :o
