Hi there! LÖVE is an *awesome* framework you can use to make 2D games in Lua. It's free, open-source, and works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Here's a little gadget I created from the engine:
Stars .love file (need to install love to be able to run)

It's a very fast and powerful engine with an easy-to-learn programming language. If you're looking to create a game, you should try it out!

No, it's legit. While trying to convince my friend to learn Java, he found this.

Tried Love but it didn't really suit my needs.
So now I use Agen
Similar engine except no built in particles (~40 lines of code to make a particle engine if you know what you're doing though) and Agen supports some nice features for layers.
