I don't need to know about OSs to ask why you would need this. Don't act like a bitch.
It's a fair question, the uses are:
- Loading up websites you don't trust in a virtual machine to test them without putting your actual computer at risk.
- Sandboxing particularly unstable software.
- Scanning files for viruses in a contained environment before transferring them to your computer.
- Test out software or entire operating systems without worrying about messing up your computer.
- Programming crossplatform software without having to maintain multiple computers or multiboot.
- Educational purposes like setting up a small LAN, causing and troubleshooting errors, deleting system files to see what happens, etc. Some programs will allow you to hotswap drives, ram, even processors while the computer is running, stuff you probably wouldn't want to try on your home computer unless you really knew what you were doing.
- Running old software that you still need. As an example, some businesses have old custom DOS applications they use and it's more cost effective to run it in a vm then get a program made for them.
- Running old fullscreen applications like DOS games or early Windows games in "windowed" mode.
If you don't have a need or interest in any of these then you probably don't need VirtualBox.
