It's basically a sort of social network meets online economy meets arcade meets room decorator. I'm not particularly good at explaining things of this sort, but give it a try. It may seem overwhelming at first, but it's easy to figure out, even without the crapload of wiki articles they have. It helps build egos in the way that you can earn money in games and make a nice room and brag about it. You're generally free to do what you like.
