Hey, Cave Story fans, the 3DS is getting a remake.

Except Quote 1.0's head isn't so wide his cheeks are almost right above his wrists. Seriously, it looks like they decided to go for a chibi look and failed horribly.

Also, when concept art is released to the public, that usually means they've decided on that design.

Isn't the point of cave story to have an 8-bit look?  the 16 bit style or whatever was fine, but I dunno about this...  It does look pretty neat though.

Wait, this game is a 2D sidescroller. How the hell are they going to pull this off? They have to be adding depth to make it 3D, so this isn't just a remake, right?

There's 3d graphic games with sidescrolling. Take a look at LBP. You could make a whole level on 1 layer and it would still be 3d graphics.
