Author Topic: [Transportation Megathread] Discussing Cars, Motorcycles and other vehicles  (Read 1324 times)

TRANSPORTATION MEGATHREAD
It's a megathread. I'm pretty sure it's also about transporation.

What's all this about?

We've had too many threads about "Post your favorite car" or "post the car you own". This thread is simply a megathread for people posting, discussing, bragging or arguing about different cars, motorsport, motorcycles, and other modes of personal transportation.

In this thread, you may discuss what vehicles you currently own, as well as what vehicles you wish to own in the future and news about new cars, motorsports, events, autoshows, and more.

Get crackin'.

The forget am I supposed to post about, then?

Here are a few examples.

Cars - the most common, four-wheeled transportation. Cars are expensive, require insurance, a license and a certain age. Varieties include Sedans, Coupe, Minivans, Trucks, Vans, Muscle Cars, Supercars and Hypercars.

Motorcycles - Motorcycles may look and seem badass, they are cheaper than a car for regular price as well as fuel, but you can only drive them in regular weather, they are extremely dangerous at high speeds and they require a seperate license. Examples include Sport Bikes, Choppers, Dirt Bikes, Touring Bikes and Enduros.

Scooters - A perfect solution for local transportation. Low on emissions, cheap on gas and very inexpensive, scooters are a quick and simple way to get around the city and short-range destinations. Some require an M license while others act like a bicycle, with no restrictions, but electric motors. Examples include the Vespa, Enduro Scooters, eBikes and Kit Bikes.

Bicycles - If you know how to ride one, you're set for life. It's that simple. A man-powered vehicle that allows you to quickly move around short distances. The bicycle can be locked anywhere, parked anywhere and some can even be folded. The bicycle is still the most simple form of transportation today. Varieties include Hybrids, Road, Mountain, Touring, Folding and Cyclocross.

Alright, whatever. Now what's the post layout?

If you want to post info about your current/newly acquired/wishing-for vehicle, follow this format if you want.

This is my example.

Currently owned:

- Chevrolet Cobalt LT (Father's. Customized front end, renamed badge and titled the "Cobalt RS".)

- I have my G1 License. I can drive the car but my father must accompany me in the ride.

Soon to acquire:

Daymak Rome Scooter ($1700. It is an eBike, battery powered and requires no license.)

- I plan to get my G2 License soon.

The wet-dream wishlist:
- Chevrolet Cruze (Replaced the Cobalt last year. Quite a half-decent car)

- Suzuki GSXR Motorcycle (When I'm like, 30, and my dad isn't telling me I can't.)

But mainly, my favorite thing to ride is Beachbum.

Saved for future reference.

Anyway, my current car is a BMW 350i, my dream car is a BMW 750i, or a Audi A4

I really want a moped (scooter). Cars scare me.

but you can only drive them in regular weather, they are extremely dangerous at high speeds

This is full of untrue.

I've ridden my dirt bike in the rain.

They are just as dangerous as cars at high speed. The only thing that make them "more dangerous" is the fact that if you are hit by something bigger then you (car, quad, etc), you basically become roadkill. :d

the car I want is the Toyota fj40 landcruiser that's my dream vehicle but they are so hard to find in my state. I currently own a pretty nice mountain bike but I don't ride it much.

I have Schwinn bicycle. Me and my friends want to buy a manvan (Volkswagen Microbus) for our band that might get off the ground.

Currently owned: CBR 250 RR and two CT 110s
Top speed on the CBR I've been is 200kph, I've ridden a mates GSXR 1000, and my brain melted, got up to 260kph and just couldn't think anything other then "holy forget".
Saving up for a repsol thousand, though after crashing into a metal fence and being flung off like super man eating dirt about 6 meters away, and constant motor repair costs of my CBR I might postpone things and buy a stuffty ute.

What you've written about motorbikes is kinda wrong, you can ride them in any weather yet still have the same hazards as any vehicle. There's statistics that say there's less motorbike accidents in the rain then dry hah, because people take it easier.

There's also less people riding motorcycles in the rain because not everyone is handicapped. Also, you most definitely cannot ride a motorcycle safely in the snow and even high winds can be dangerous.

I don't have a car yet but I have a pretty nice pair of feet.
