Well firstly, it's pointless to speculate what an alien would look like without any base whatsoever. Saying they probably look so different from us that we can't imagine what they look like is a good start if you're really into it, but you can't even say that. Or, well, you can say that, but you won't know for sure that it is the way it is. Most life is probably bacteria anyway, I mean, come on. How pointless can it get.
