Author Topic: Bobby Pin Key  (Read 930 times)

Ho hum another boring afternoon.  I was sitting in "the kitchen" thinking about how bored I was when it occurred to me to try lockpicking!

So I looked it up, figured out how It worked, and utterly failed.  Not only did not not have access to a proper torsion wrench, but I lacked any nice, old, doorknobs to pick.  I attempted to pick the pantry door lock but, alas I had no idea what I was doing.

Thus I figured I might as well try picking a door that I had a key to.  That way I could atleast figure out where I needed the pins to be for the door to open.  This didn't work either.

Anyhow it occurred to me to bend a bobby pin into the shape of my key.  And try to use that.   Aaand It worked!  I had a little trouble with getting the bent bobby pin into the keyhole, so I used a straightened out paperclip to push all of the tumblers up.  Then I simply had to insert the bobby pin and I was in business!  Or so I thought.  It turns out the keyhole went alot farther back then I had presumed.  So I had to mark how long the actual key was so I didn't "get lost" in the keyhole.  Used a flathead screwdriver to turn the knob thingy.

So yeah.  Moral of the story-  picking locks is harder than it looks.  Especially if you have no idea what you're doing. ;)  But its still fun!  That feeling you get when you finally get the door open... it's just amazing.  I think I may have to buy some real lockpicking tools.  Maybe a guidebook.

Please note possessing lockpicks is illegal in some states.

I remember Oblivion when I had like 60 lockpicks, and every time I broke one my frustration made it more difficult during the next try. I swear I went through all of them trying to pick one lock, and then had to all the way to Cyrodil to buy some more.

forgetin hated that stuff.

You were sitting in "the kitchen"?

Of course. Real lock picks make it much easier, but it can still take up to an hour to get a lock.
It might be because I run into security pins, but I'm not sure.
In my science class, there are 5 tables with like, 8 draws and 2 cabinets, and 98% of them are locked, so I unlocked all of them to see what was inside them...
A whole lot of nothing.

I was really good at lockpicking when I first tried on that game, Now I want to play *Looks over at CD* Should I?

I have a skeleton key [:

Mouldes to unlock all old-fashion locks. Its made of a super soft metal, my old physics teacher gave me it. I've only managed to pick like 10 different types of locks with it, because of its weird shape.

But, the best way to pick locks isn't bobby pins, its 16g needles and torsion drivers.

Torsion wrench or Tension wrench?

Anyway, the last time I picked a lock was with a scissor. Since my teacher left the class key inside the classroom, we had to wait for a long time for a key. Midway that waiting, I asked for scissors, jammed it in the lock, started turning it around and bam, door opened. I felt really great doing that, but we kept it secret because that had been done by one of the Highschoolers before and he got detention for it.

Well, I kind of want to learn to do it with a bobby pin.  I mean what are the chances that you'll have some 16g needles and a torsion driver when locked in a supermarket.  ;)

Then again, what are the chances you get locked in a supermarket in the first place.  :o

I always have a 16g needle in my pocket, and I have a micro torsion driver in my wallet.

I would also reccomend you invest in a steel card. Its a debit/credit card shaped object, but made of titanium. :o

I think I'll do that.  Any suggestions on where I can buy all of this?  Besides the obvious place(Ebay).

Maybe your lock pick level wasn't high enough.
