Author Topic: Midi Recorder  (Read 451 times)

I recently got a cord that connect my electric piano to my computer but I need to find a good free program to record it. I found one called anvil studio, but it does not exactly record it the way that I would like. What I am looking for is a recorder that records a note for however long that note is pressed down, not just using the piano as a guide to what notes there should be, and not being able to record the length of each note differently without having to change a setting. If there is a program like that, it would be nice to know. And before you say to Google it, I don't want to have to install every program that I see just to see if it does what I want, then have to uninstall it, and repeat.

Well, for MIDI recording I use either FL Studio, Mixcraft, Pro Tools, or Studio One; Artist, unfortunately those are all paid programs. I'm sure you could get it to work with Audacity, I believe it supports MIDI controllers.

My friend Johnny uses Anvil. I know that's not exactly what you want, but if you do decide with one of the programs Monocle mentioned (FL, Pro Tools, etc) you can at least export MIDI from Anvil to FL. o:

Minus the fact that Anvil is the biggest pain int he ass that has ever been invented.. :c

Are there free trials for those programs?

I believe of FL Studio.

Reaper is free but it nags you to buy it, otherwise you can still use it as long as you want with all the features in tact. It's what I use to record and mix literally everything.

In FL's demo, you can export MP3s and stuff but you can't save projects to work on them later.
