Amnesia: The Dark Descent Problem

So I just got the game. I start a new game, the person says I am Daniel and that stuff, and then nothing. All I see is a dot in the middle of the screen. It turns into a hand to pick up stuff i'm guessing but I can't see anything. I tried turning the brightness up and changing the graphics settings multiple times but nothing seems to work.

i saw that, but after he stops talking this happens

No, I just tried again and it just stayed like the picture above.
I saw the dot in the middle turn into a hand though when I tried moving the mouse.
