Author Topic: Callout  (Read 750 times)

Is it possible to make a add-on that when you press a button (You can choose which of course) it calls out to everyone on the server and shows a pointer to you?
Some of you might get what game I got this from. If possible make it TDM compatible? (Only your team can see your call out)
RTB Prefs would be essential, too.

I like this idea, you would need a cool-down timer though, it's easily spammable and could be really annoying.

I'd rather let my team know where an enemy is, maybe with a cooldown?

It would only update the location, and if you held it the callout would follow you until you release it.

A cooldown would be nice, but may cause problems if you're noting multiple places.

Maybe an RTB pref for multiple or single callout per person?

The issue with this is pointing to the player.

How would it be done? I can't think of any easy way that makes sense.

you probably wouldn't be able to do the pointer but you could create a very tall light pillar emmiter that shined from the person?

That would  be annoying, especialy in dark maps.

well there is most likely no other way you can't just make a client sided 3D arrow

Well there could be an emmiter.

But then it wouldn't go through walls, and everyone would see it.

Orrrrr just do like Gamemode_Zombie does, and place a model of a pointer above the player's head for a short period of time and put a chat message like "Look at [namehere]!"

That would make sense but there would have to be a line of sight for most people to notice.

And at night, or on dark maps, the rendered icon might not be visible within a certain distance.

A bright, visible model. Maybe even attach a light to the player's head, if you have too.

Again, the dark map problem.

Maybe dim the light so it only highlights the player?

Make it compatible with the compass mod.
As long as you hold the button, the waypoint stays on you.
