Author Topic: Left 4 Dead 2 problem - Crashes  (Read 2414 times)

Hi.
Okay so here's my problem. I just finished installing L4D2 [after two days] and I was excited to play it. So I click play and it shows the 'Preparing to launch' window. Then it loads the valve intro and then the intro of the game. Right at the 'Loading' screen, the game just closes with no errors.

Please help.

This is what I got. Not sure if it's what you wanted

Software error.  Judging by your WEI rating though you probably have a stuffty video chip so that might be why actually.

So does this mean I wasted $20 for nothing?

Not wasted. Just don't buy games you can't run.

Open the start menu.
Type "dxdiag", and hit enter.
Click the "Display" tab.
Take Screenshot.
Post.
Your chipset should be ATi Radeon HD 4200. It should be able to run L4D2.

Your computer seems qualified enough to run it, but here should be a solution.
Close Steam, then try opening "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps", and deleting "left 4 dead 2 client.ncf", "left 4 dead 2 common.ncf", and "left 4 dead 2.ncf".
Re-open Steam.
Click Left 4 Dead 2, then click the install button. (do not worry about the 13GB download, it only redownloads the above files, then reads the rest of the files to verify)

There appear to be only the client and common files, but not the 'left 4 dead 2.ncf' But whatever

That file may appear when you have skins or something installed, I have no clue. :|
Keep in mind the reading may take a long while if your Anti-Virus software consumes a lot of CPU time.

Okay, well it's re-installing right now, so I'll notify you if it works or not.

Fixed it! Thanks so much koopa! :D
Hugs you-
