Update.  If you haven't updated to 5.0, that's where this tiny risk of having everything deleted is, and even if that happens you can restore manually.  (It only deletes everything if iTunes doesn't restore for whatever reason, it creates a backup of your stuff when updating.)  It's worth doing.



battery life would be the only real reason for updating unless you're Australian and actually use the speech feature.

otherwise if you charge daily you shouldn't have any problem with battery life.
