GMod not starting internet server?

I am wondering why, GMod isn't starting an internet server. It starts a lan server but no internet server. Local Network Game isn't enabled. Any way to fix this?

It's an internet server, just nobody can connect. You have to forward 5 ports for it to work. There's a good guide on portforwarding for Half-Life, the original on portforward.com, which is exactly the same as doing it for Garry's Mod.

Is there a way to port foward on my netgear router? (xfinity)

Just portfoward 27015 tcp/udp (I don't know which one so do both)

I forwarded ports, but ... its not showing on internet section on the server list.
Also, when I look in console, it says

[L] Sandbox
Map: gm_construct
Players: 1 / 15

....

I still dont see my server on the list, but a guy joined and left. Still, never saw on server list.

Must've been a glitch. Well, I found my server on the list, but it still says [L] Sandbox.

That means it's a listen server.

[L] is normal for a sandbox server, don't pay attention to that.

It is normal for all gamemodes, not just sandbox. If he doesn't host a dedicated server, it's going to show an [L] before the gamemode since it's a listen server.

By the way OP, make sure sv_lan is 0. If it was originally 1, change it to 0 and reload the map.
