Not totally.  While you can't use them directly in most places, you can still convert them to more common currencies, such as U.S. Dollars, Pounds or Euros.

I think they're really rare, and valuable, so only a few can get you good stuff
that gun was labeled as 33 bitcoins or so, and black market stuff is expensive

bitcoins are the most broken form of trading ever. the only upside is that i can buy some meth and not get busted for it.
