Author Topic: Ingame option to make your server dedicated  (Read 650 times)

When starting a game, you should get the option to host the server as a dedicated; with all the abilities of being the host of a normal server, but would get a warning if you're already hosting a dedicated, that will shut down the current one and start the new if you proceed, would this be difficult? would it require source code changes that we don't have access to?

What is the point of running a dedicated server in a graphical window like that?

I guess it just never was implemented ingame?

The entire point of hosting a dedicated server is to not have a client running in the same process.

Right, but you would start the dedicated as the server you start ingame, you could then disconnect from your dedicated without losing the server, maybe even have an ingame view of stuff that is going on in it while you play on others, idk

its just a better way of starting a dedicated in my opinion, if the dedicated could recognize you as the host and everything too

On a technical side, not even close.

Er. I don't see the point. Why not just start the Dedicated to begin with..?

so basicaly you want to host a server like a normal server, while being able to join others?
just open up two blockland windows, one to host the server/play on the server, one to join others
