Is anyone else unable to connect to Xbox Live?

I've been trying to sign in on my xbox, but I can't

this says that they're aware of it, at which point that means it's not a problem on my end

so really, I'm just curious about whether or not anyone else is experiencing this

some friends on facebook were going apestuff over this, though some others said they had no problems. probably just one of those problems where some are effected.
