for some reason, sometimes when i choose to watch a video in 1080p, theres no difference in quality at all

i have to switch to 240p, wait for it to buffer and switch to 1080p and then it will work

My only irk is that it defaults videos at 360p.  This isn't loving 2006, I want to watch videos in at least 480p.  I'm not a poor ass monday.

I too was having this problem.  I did a lot of researching and troubleshooting to no avail.  Then I noticed that the old videos played perfectly.  I then studied both the old videos and the newer (or more recently) submitted videos and noticed that many have Pop-up ads.  Noticing this, I turned off my Po-Up Blocker and this fixed my problem.  I can know watch videos without the 5 seconds pausing.  I hope this helps."

You think Google cares about YouTube? As far as I know they actually loose money on YouTube, but they don't seem to care (for now) since they're freakin' kingpin. What site threatens YouTube? Can you think of one? I can't.

Well, that solution didn't work for me. Disabling ABP seemed to add more problems - problems I hadn't even experienced before. It's probably just YouTube being a huge mess in general.
