Don't listen to the orthodontist.

Hard stuff didn't hurt anyone, even with braces. I still eat hard candy and gum and what not despite what they say...
yeah, but watch out for tortilla chips, and don't even THINK about apples.

eaten tortilla chips, not the hard as a rock kind but a little bit softer.

apples I've eaten no sweat when chopped up...

you just have to make sure the chips don't get wedged in between your tooth and brace. those damn things can pop 'em out if you bite down hard enough.
and when i say apples i mean a full apple. screw apple skins.

My parents constantly tell me I need braces, but I've had like, 5 people tell me that I don't need them. My teeth are straight, yet my parents always pester me that I need them.
I refuse to ever get them.

they hurt :(

I used to have horrible overbite, I got braces a few years back and got my teeth all fixed up. I'll never forget the pain they induce ;_;

Well, although this topic brings thoughts to mind related to the topic at hand, I'm not at liberty to say. Instead, I will apologize for the Tonka Truck comment yesterday. Didn't think it was so bad as to be banned for it. :panda:
It was a 1 minute ban that was un-banned right away.

Had braces since January. They hurt...

I have to put on rubber bands on these hooks inside my mouth now.
Annoying as forget cause I have to take them off when I brush my teeth/eat.
Wow, sucks for you. I am getting dentist controlled springs for substitutes for rubber bands, and I don't have to take them out ANY TIME :D

That's because dentists can predict where your teeth will move, you'll probably have horribly bent (and probably painful) teeth as an adult. : \

I don't have some because I have nice teeth
B)

I checked my progress recently, and I've almost completely lost my overbite. I had to get 2 teeth removed for my braces though, so all I need my braces to do now is close the gap and align my top teeth with the bottom.

Eat whatever you want, I do and the ortho doesnt notice/give a stuff
