Steam avatars/icons/whatever messing up

ok so
steam lately has been COMPLETELY wrecking everyone's avatars on my friend's list and its really creepy
at first its just a little zoom
then it gets worse
borders disappear
zooms in more
it just keeps zooming
until its just the huge pixels
and its a recurring problem through restarts
any ideas on how to fix this because i have no clue what the forget is going on

View -> Settings -> Beta Participation -> Change -> Steam Beta Update

Use the beta version of Steam, I've never had these problems and that's what I'm using.

Yes, it's been happening a lot to quite a large quantity of people lately, Steam is making major changes so bugs and hiccups should be expected
