Every time somebody brings up earthbound everyone's like "omg forget you north american nintendo for not bringing earthbound to the virtual console!!"

There's a good reason why they aren't going to do it and they can't do it.

Earthbound is pretty cool. If you like it, I'd recommend its pseudo-sequel, Mother 3.

There's a lot of stuff in the game that would send a lawyer batstuff insane if it was rereleased

The Dali's clock enemy
The "Cave of the past" music is sampled from the first few seconds of the Beach Boys song, "deidre"
The "Cliff that time forgot" music is sampled from Sgt.Pepper's lonely hearts club band.
A guy in Onett gives you a pop quiz on the Beatles.
And the new age retro hippie's music is extremely similar to Johnny B. Goode.
And there's a lot more references.
It was suprising that Appe got away with these, they where awesome, though.

It's actually MOTHER 3 that didn't get ported to North America.

Earthbound, the North American release name, is MOTHER 2.

EDIT: This also belongs in Games, because it's a game.
