How similar is Final Cut Pro to Sony Vegas Pro 10?

Final Cut Pro is made by Apple so you can guarantee that Jony Ive spent 2 months expanding on the simplistic user interface rather than giving it to the people who actually do stuff.
So basically it's performance sucks but people buy it because of it's simplistic ui
