Author Topic: Cool Discovery I found about Pokemon Games!  (Read 2682 times)

Thank you, it might be piracy, I realize that, but seriously, it's not terrible and why would the FBI go after me if I just got one ROM that doesn't even WORK and I don't intend to play?

I won't be banned because I'm talking about emulation and I didn't post any of the content from the game.

it might be piracy, I realize that

then why did you post

it's not terrible

yes it is

why would the FBI go after me

do you have any idea what you're talking about

if I just got one ROM that doesn't even WORK and I don't intend to play?

this makes literally no sense, it's like stealing a car and saying it's ok because you weren't going to drive it

no i'm pretty sure scratch will be banned, literally because it's a ROM he didn't rip from the real game cartridge himself privately. that's the whole reason it's considered piracy. even if he only wanted the music, it's still someone else's copy of the game.

it's amazingly sad at how much people just keep pressing on to get him banned. i mean come on scratch made a simple mistake of talking about piracy, the most he'll get is probably a month ban, and then he'll be back. stop getting your knickers in a knot over it.

So, back on topic: Scratch, how do most games store sound files?

So, back on topic: Scratch, how do most games store sound files?

From what I've seen, it varies. I think the source engine uses .wav and .mp3s to store sound and music files. Other games might use midi files.
Pretty sure most use mp3 though.

literally
May I point out a couple of things?

He realized after he posted
Definitions of terrible vary from person to person
He doesn't know who, if anyone, will come after him, but he does know that there's the threat
Stealing a car =/= taking a small amount of data
Stealing a car is doing something that will harm someone else. Taking the music won't hurt anyone, and the monetary value is much less considerable.

Well, Pokemon stores it with a MIDI, a Sound Bank (SoundFont or DownloadableSound) and a sound sample.

But why would I be banned? I'm discussing emulation. ;-;

stealing a car is taking something worth money from someone or a business, ripping music without paying for the source is also taking money from someone or a business

also i have absolutely no idea what would make someone think that the fbi is going to go after a 13 year old for downloading something illegally

THANK you.

yes

but what are you emulating?

also yeah scratch might get in trouble with the local cops maybe but nothing serious lol

DS games use MIDI files and lossy compressed soundfonts, I think.

Well, I'm discussing what's inside the Pokemo Black ROM, which is emulation.

OMG really? Awesome!
