I understood everything perfectly fine and didn't have any problems with it by just playing the game. I never had to do any "outside research." Maybe some of you are just a bit slow.

I understood most of it, basically "Combine invaded, humanity enslaved or otherwise oppressed, go join rebellion because G-Man said so, meet up with Alyx who was like 2 the last time you saw her, go like do Rebel stuff, blah blah blah." It's not that hard to understand dude
