Author Topic: Light shaders  (Read 800 times)

I was thinking of an idea while looking at a light shining through a wall. I thought, would it be possible to add shaders to the lights? That way they cast shadows too. Plus that would get rid of the light through walls thing.

Badspot mentioned this. It's too resource hungry, he can't justify having more than one casting light source at a given time

He said maybe once shadows are more optimized.

i dont care if it melts my cpu i want it to look lovey make it an option have tuts for people to set priority to high

Well in a way this could work, i think, without it being a light source in a way. Assuming shadows are too hard, why not make the bricks sort of reflect the light giving the illusion it's a light without it making the circle the lights would usually make.

I hope this idea is at least attempted. It would complete the shaders in Blockland in my opinon. Also it would be sweet to be able to set light intensity like the way you can with the environment controls. Either that or be able to set the radius.
