Author Topic: Shader AND Shadow option  (Read 666 times)

check bold words for TL;DR

Not sure of this is possible.  Infact, I'll probably sound more stupid than I want to while saying this, or some bullstuff will happen.

Either way, I'm posting.  This is the only suggestion I've ever had for blockland.

So far, whenever I put the shader option on "minimum" it gives me shaders and I get 10 fps.  Great, but, when I put it on "low" (which activates shadows) it seems like I get the same FPS.

I'm not sure if this is just me bambling about something that doesn't even matter, but I think that I might run shadows better than I would run shaders.

If there were seperate options to activate shadows OR shaders, I could have the nice view of shadows but not the FPS droppy view of shaders.

Not sure if they are two different things, don't know if it can be done.  Just a suggestion.

I wanted to know about this too.

All settings for the shaders are the same, with a few exceptions. "Off" does not use shaders. "Minimum" does. Everything above "Minimum" just makes shadows more detailed.

Shadows are a shader, what are you talking about?

a shader darkens the far/ reflects lights off the bricks and makes things look fancy without shadows

Shadows acctualy put shadows

The problem would be that there would be a shadow appearing but the brick wouldn't darken so it would look ugly

Atleast it would look better by a nice amount visually.

Plus, it wouldn't look as bad as you think it would.  Bricks normally "light" themselves by having one light side and one dark side wherever the sunlight is coming from, even without shaders.  It just wouldn't be as dark as IRL shadows, it would still be good enough.

The problem is, the shadows ARE PART of the shaders, so if shaders we're completely off, shadows would not show.

It's like trying to run the LSD shader with no shaders on

aren't shaders and shadows different, though?

i don't know what the technical blockland system is with that but i've seen plenty of games with shader and shadow options, both seperate.

It wouldn't look ugly, it would look like ROBLOX.
