Author Topic: Is this pc build any good?  (Read 2192 times)

Ok thanks how about this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qGDn

So are these parts good or should I get a better CPU cooler or whatever?

Everything checks out, but id recomend a 2gb Nvidia, but thats just my opinion

Also have you considered an SSD? Given that you're already spending a good amount, you may find that investing in an SSD for booting and keeping your frequented programs will make everything a ton faster, Hard Disk Drives really slow down a lot of things.

I have a Radeon 6870, it can reasonably play any game I throw at it with max settings and it only costs about $150. You could get a $200 GPU, and use the extra $100 for a 120Gb SSD that you could use alongside the HDD, you would not regret it.

Ok. I think I will wait for SSD's to become cheaper before buying one. Also will this computer be able to wirelessly connect ot my network? And also is there ever any sales during christmas or boxing day on parts?

I don't think that this build includes a wireless NIC but I could be wrong.

You can pick up a reliable USB wireless N adapter for under $25. Having one would enable you to wirelessly connect to your network.

people who frequent the computer megathread know what they're talking about so you're bound to get better advice there than making your own topic

I tried 8 times but no avail

You are expecting answers way to quick

Are parts cheaper during the holidays and Boxing Day, also does this computer be able to wirelessly connect to my network?

get a wireless modem

You need to buy a wireless adapter for your computer for it to connect to wi-fi. Otherwise the only way it can connect to the internet is through a LAN cable.

Yeah, some motherboards have wireless and bluetooth built in (usually the expensive motherboards or ones with media center computers in mind). In this case you'll need an adapter.

I also suggest staying away from ASRock motherboards, they failed me before.
agreed. i'm a bit edgy about the ASRock mobo.
yay gigabyte. much better.

the CPU+Motherboard combo is not good. Do you want to overclock? then you will need a board with z75 or z77 chipset.
If you don't want to overclock then you can save some money with buying the non K version of the CPU.

And stop generalizing about ASRock, their z77 line is completely fine.
look for the ASRock z77 Pro3, some of my friends got it and they have never complained.

But I have to agree that ASRock also produced some very weak motherboards.
Problem No.1 are cheap capacitors, but in the z77 line they are using solid caps which wont fail or leak.
