Author Topic: Android problems  (Read 536 times)

my phone keeps resetting at random times. (not by pressing buttons, it's done this while laying flat plenty before)
i've heard it may be firmware problems, and that I should have factory resetted before switching to Android 4.
what do you guys think? should i factory reset now? would it change anything?
also, does anyone know how i should backup my apps/pictures/contacts? what's a good app for this?
and finally, is the sd card mentioned in my main directory an external sd card?

if you have t mobile it comes with this thing that auto saves contacts, not sure about other providers. mabye use dropbox for other stuff?

also do you have an internal or removable battery

Removable. I had art, unlocked it and switched to T-Mobile. Would it still apply?

removable battery may be the problem, might be loose or something. i think you might need a new one.

Just back up your main files and if it's under warranty and or 30 day return policy or some stuff like that return it as defective.  I had that with my ASUS tf300t when I first bought it.  It would randomly restart whenever it damn well pleased, so I returned and got a new one and never since have I had that problem.

What phone is it?
samsung galaxy s2.

stuff. i was hoping it wasnt a hardware problem.

i unlocked it already bro. no turning back.

When you say you've, "unlocked it," I'm guessing you mean you rooted it, then I would also assume this means you have a custom recovery. If this is the case then I would advise you to acquire a copy of Titanium Backup and backup everything (and SMS Backup if you backup your texts like I do), syncing your contacts with Google and doing a factory reset. Make sure you also wipe your cache and your dalvik cache.

If the reboots persist, try a custom ROM to see if it's just a firmware issue. Odin and Heimdall flashes are also really great, but can be risky if you don't know what you're doing.

If you haven't rooted your phone then what the forget do you mean by, "unlocked it," and why would that void your warranty? Go root it and flash a custom recovery immediately if you don't give a stuff about your warranty. (Even though rooting can be undone, cause it totally can be, and I totally returned one of my phones that I had rooted previously.)
