There's a reason why they sentenced him to 285 years of prison. Not 100% sure, but the way I think it works:

- He molests 11 kids. Lets say he gets 26 years per molestation. If the judge doesn't rule consecutive sentences, those 285 years are spent in one go as 11 overlapping 26 years.

- He molests 11 kids. Lets say he gets a life sentence. With good behavior, that could be reduced to something like 40 years.

- He molests 11 kids. Lets say he gets 26 years per molestation, but that are non-consecutive. Even with good time served and a sentence reduction, he'd still be serving 200 years, and will never get out of prison.

The judge in this court case was doing his best to ensure this man would never see the outside of a prison out of a box.
