Author Topic: Rpg mods?  (Read 3263 times)

Maybe there could be a shop mod where people could go and pick up a gun and it would take cash from them, using the cash mod, there could be random items you could find like "wolf meat," so you would walk into a trigger and it would sell it. Also, there could be a mod where theres a bot that only attacks you when you get close enough, and when you killed it, it would give you money or items like the "wolf meat".

(maybe not wolfs but...)

Another idea is that there is "dice rolling" where a weapon would do different damage each hit. Also, there could be a weapon that the more people or bots you kill it with, the more powerful it gets, maybe with all weapons(with a special kind of player in a minigame).

Is this possible?

I like your above ideas (thought a few of them myself before) and an item system and compatible money system is in order.

Sadly, many will say this isnt worth it or they will yet again complain about the fact that GUIs can't be downloaded.

Randomness in the power and accuracy of weapons is an interesting idea but would need to be kept within certain levels (so that you don't get a wildy shooting bow or a overly-powerful gun).

This sounds a bit like WoW. I don't want to turn this game into an RPG world... just keep it a building game.

Well, despite the near infinite number of things you can build in Blockland, eventually it gets boring. Mods are a neccessary part of BL and in keeping it "alive".

Besides, we see people hosting RPG servers all the time....lets atleast make those better.

You've got a good point!

mods will die out once other peeps hit the datablock limit like me :/
Then what will we play?

We'll go back to the bronze age (RTB) and if we fail then, we go back to the stone age! (vanilla)

Well, for one thing, you can change all the vehicles so that they use the jeep's explosion datablocks instead of creating a new, completley identical explosion datablock for ever vehicle. That would free up about 30, I bet. You also have to decide which mods you need, and which you don't. Finally, you can just have multiple copies of Blockland, each with different mod combinations.

and if that fails we'll go back to the whatchacallit age(see:http://games.byond.com/hub/Rky_nick/Bucon*)

*I hasnt worked on it for a while, so its out of date with the customizeable HUD/GUI system, but its still a good building game even if its 2d(we probably wont have to resort to it tho.(like anyone would want to anyways)

I honestly doubt you hit the datablock limit. The game itself takes up about 900ish, and we have a 2048 datablock limit. If you've managed to make 1148 datablocks you're doing something stupid.

I'm adding buying and selling items but it's bork and I don't know why.

First focus on vehicles because thats easier.
P.S. Make the respawns cost, i.e. Vehicle costs $50, Respawn costs $5
