I can describe the region in a sentence. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Yes.

There is nothing I want more than a copy of that testing software right now.

"what the hell am i doing"

oh and then I finally plopped a hydrogen power plant (legitimately earned too <3).  I know it's not even hard to earn one but to finally earn one because only within recent time have I been playing it seriously...

when i had this game i started a new region and made my own lands my scratch

was fun

how do I deal with "abandoned due to commute time" infecting my residential areas like a plague?  I have bus stops, railways, subways, practically perfect system.  why?

You need to zone an absolute stuffload of commercial, hi-tech, and manufacturing once you get skyscrapers because even the high density manufacturing plants provide enough jobs for 1/5 of a skyscraper. Your mass transit may be running over capacity as well - once you go over 100% transit speed falls off rapidly. If you're at like 400% usage on a bus stop then people probably aren't getting where they need to go.

also, build:
1. an International Airport
2. a Marina
3. lots of hospitals, police stations, fire stations, schools and related educational buildings, more power plants and pumps.
4. One Way Roads.
this is to stimulate job growth nearby large residential areas and lower commute time.

Also, don't forget to make other cities around it with more jobs and housing.

I really enjoy Sim City 4, but man I suck at managing a transportation network.

I watched a few videos and they said to make a super city you would need to use multiple cities. Like one for industry one for commercial, if you do that will your commute time always be terrible?

Depending on the amount of high speed transit relays you have.
many subways and many roads are good.
busses are alright if you need them and trains are just eyecandy IMO.
Also, PARKING GARAGES ARE GOOD.

I had a subway and bus station on every other city block of 4x4. Still people left due to commute time.

thanks for the advice.

I do have a stuffload of all civic buildings practically, and an int'l airport and lots of one-ways.  can't do a marina I think, I don't think I fulfill the minimum water percentage requirement.
