I think that it would be really neat if Blockland came with a batch of server-sided preferences or some sort of mod that allows the user to chose what kind of lighting you would see in Blockland, and how the scene is lit overall.  For instance, if someone wants to host a game where everything is black and white, then if you were to build with a grayscale colorset, you would still be limited.  Particles and player models would still appear in color.  I was wondering if there was a way to set Blockland to appear in alternate color systems, such as Black and White, Sepia, etc. on a server-wide level.

Probably if all the clients have a client add-on that interfaces with the server add-on.

So if the server enabled the Add-On, you are saying that it could work for people who have the Add-On enabled in their client.

I guess so but I have no experience working with shaders. To me it sounds like you would be directly manipulating what colors the clients see rather than modifying the world lighting. As far as I know you can't simply light bricks but not light particles or players.

This is pretty cool, but making it require a client-side addon is pretty lame - people will just go 'forget that' and not see the true nature of the build.

Well sorta a bit of all of it.  It would have to be a server mod that tells the individual client mod to switch into a certain mode that will make the player interpret the colors in a certain way.  It must not be adjustable by the client, but the server sets the preferences remotely.
