Author Topic: Tips on Reducing Lag  (Read 618 times)

I'm willing to bet there's been a thread on this already, but my screen can't load the page when I use the Search button, so....
What are some general tips on reducing lag in a custom server? Will using default bricks help, or using less add-ons?

When building enclosed things like ships and space stations, fill up the empty spaces in-between your hull and interior with bricks to reduce lag. It causes all the inside and unshown faces of your interior and hull bricks to be hidden, therefore there's less to render and less lag. As a plus, it also makes your build stronger against attack!

Really?
I thought if you can't see the brick they aren't technically there at all and not rendered?

Try placing a large brick in front of a huge build

Bricks are not rendered when they are off screen
Bricks are rendered when they are occluded by other bricks
Bricks are not rendered when their faces are fully covered by other bricks

lots of jvs will lag, lots of transparent bricks are laggier, lots of emmiters are laggy, try to combine smaller bricks into larger ones
